Strata Cleaning Potts Point & Kings Cross

Tru Brite strata cleaning in Sydney

Potts Point and Kings Cross have changed character more than almost any part of Sydney. For years the precinct was known for the Kings Cross nightclub strip. The lockout laws arrived in 2014 and the last of the restrictions were lifted in 2021, and in between, as some of the strip’s nightspots closed, Potts Point’s cafés, restaurants and wine bars multiplied around Llankelly Place and Challis Avenue. Today the suburb is better known for its village feel, its 1930s Art Deco apartment blocks and the harbour views from its buildings.

Tru Brite has cleaned strata buildings here through that change. We look after Omnia on Victoria Street, The Grantham and Pomeroy in neighbouring Elizabeth Bay. Omnia is also managed by our sister company, Excel Building Management. The two are separate businesses, so a committee can choose a cleaner and a building manager independently.

Additional considerations for heritage buildings

Cleaning that respects old buildings

Much of the housing stock here predates the products most cleaners carry, and treating it well is a craft in itself. Terrazzo floors, original tiling and timber handrails each want their own methods, and using the wrong ones does slow, permanent damage that no committee notices until it is done. Our cleaners are trained for these surfaces, and the scope of works for a heritage building names them specifically, so the right treatment is a contractual matter rather than a matter of luck.

The building’s layout shapes the schedule as much as its fabric shapes the methods. In the many walk-up buildings of Potts Point the stairs are not a secondary space at all, because they are how everyone experiences the building several times a day, so we give stairwells the same attention that main common areas receive, and we clean entries and lobbies before the day begins.

Taking care of bin rooms

Bin rooms in a dense precinct tend to be small rooms doing big work, and they are where a cleaning contract shows its quality first. Ours are washed, deodorised and disinfected on a written schedule, with bins presented for collection and returned on time, and the periodic work that keeps a building fresh, from carpet steam cleans to pressure cleaning of entries and light wells, is scheduled into the contract from the start rather than sold later as an extra.

Working with your building manager

Many buildings in the precinct have a building manager or an active committee member who carries the daily load, and our contracts are written to make that person’s life easier rather than busier. Issues raised at the building are handled by staff on site or via the quality control manager. Rectification is tracked until it is closed, and the monthly inspection results are sent without the need to chase them up.

The same promises we make everywhere

Every Tru Brite cleaner is directly employed, and we never subcontract, which is why buildings see the same faces each week and why standards hold between inspections. Every contract runs on a written scope of works, and every site is inspected monthly by our QA manager, with results your committee sees. We were also early adopters of Stabilised Aqueous Ozone cleaning, which reduces the packaged chemicals used in your building.

In brief, a Tru Brite contract in Potts Point and Kings Cross means:

  • Methods and scopes written specifically for your building, including heritage considerations.
  • Stairwells, entries and bin rooms serviced on a written schedule
  • Directly employed cleaners and a monthly QA inspection

If your building deserves better than it is getting, we would love to walk it with you, from the entry to the bin room, and come back with a scoped, itemised proposal. If you are comparing us with your current cleaner, bring their scope along and we will price like-for-like.
